The other day I taught a yoga class for a client appreciation event for a group of local realtors. This took place in the beautiful backyard of a home on the water. Following the class, someone asked me “so, is there more benefit to practicing yoga outdoors?”

I loved this question.

Practicing yoga outdoors offers a unique blend of physical and mental benefits that can enhance your overall experience. The fresh air and natural surroundings help to reduce stress, allowing for deeper relaxation and improved focus. Sunlight boosts your mood and increases your vitamin D levels, which are essential for bone health and immune function. The sounds of nature can also create a calming atmosphere, making it easier to connect with your breath and find inner peace. Last month, Hurricane Helene devastated many areas close to home. There are areas where funds and support will be an ongoing need, even if it is not spoken about as loudly in the news. I am grateful to partner with a group of incredible teachers and healing practitioners next month on November 23rd to create an outdoor yoga & healing arts fundraising event for hurricane relief.

When I work with my clients, I always encourage them to start small and build from a solid foundation. When creating such big shifts in your health and well-being, it’s important to find small and short tools and practices that you can rely on to support you…and that feel attainable and realistic for YOU!
